Right-O the wood has been ordered and should be here in a few days, I’ve chased my backdrop and should be here Friday.

You may of notice I’ve been ordering stuff and my money counter hasn’t gone down, the reason is I’m going to cheat slightly. To give my company a tiny head start I’m going to ‘treat’ myself to all this new photographic equipment. Instead of putting it all under the company and starting a little in the red.

For a heads up, by the time I’ve paid for everything I would’ve invested about £900.00 in new equipment.

Honestly, it doesn’t make a blind bit of difference, I still need pay myself and get the money back. I just want to start with a nice clean slate, some people may consider this a bad business practice, but guess what? I don’t care!

Today I’m going to the shops! Keeping my eyes peeled for a cool way of displaying my prices.

Things to do:
Build my walls.
Make decals / price lists for walls and display stand.
Get ready for a test run.
Make up some product packages.
Book some space in a Shopping Centre.

I’ve been slightly slacking the last few days as I wait for equipment to arrive, today has been very much the same, however I did make a very basic ledger in Excel to keep track of my money when I start to trade. It can be seen here.

It’s very, very basic. If anyone is any good at Excel formulas don’t hesitate to give me a shout!

For the first month or so of trading this will do, because I’ll be under the limit before I need to start paying tax (Currently sat at £6,035 per year) after the first month I plan to reg myself as a private limited company and get myself an accountant (If it fits in with the budget and my takings are O.K, if things are really good I may even get SAGE)

I’m awaiting on quite a few things to arrive, I hate it when I run into roadblocks like this, there isn’t much more I can do until my backdrop is in front of me so I can do a test run.

My walls are nearly sorted, I’ve decided to go for 6x MDF 12-15mm panels @ 1.5×1.8M, pushing them next to each other to create 3mx3m box with one side open. Quite a handy setup, some shopping centres only allow certain space size so I can remove one section from each side to bring the size down.

However, to walk into a normal store and buy or get wood cut to 1.5×1.8 is very hard it seems! I am awaiting on a few quotes back from timber yards and such.

I’ve been playing a lot more sports recently, kinda tied into my new years resolution to give up/cut back on video games. It’s very refreshing to wake up and go to the local sports centre and play badminton then squash followed by a nice meal.

Though, I’d rather be in a shopping centre taking photographs.
