OK, I’ve taken the first step towards taking over the ‘photographic-portable-studio-shopping-centre-experience’ industry.

I have a name I’m happy with, a logo that will be used on my initial run and an awesome colour scheme to catch people’s eyes.

One of the USPs of my studio is that most of my photo products will be available to take away same day, almost instantly on the smaller items.

The colours are modern, bright and ‘cool’ – appealing to young families. It’s a great start and ticking all the boxes for how I wish my brand to come across.

Phase 1.2 – More Preparation

I’ve got a name a logo and some colours behind me now.

Now for the PRODUCT segment of my preparation.

For the rest of today and tomorrow I’ll be making a list of all the products that I will be offering, Posters to Plates, it will be comprehensive list of everything that I’ll be selling on launch, I already have good contacts and access to accounts which allow me produce and order certain items such as Photo Mugs, T-Shirts, Mouse Mats and much more.

Things to do:
Write up list of products, with prices.
Make light notes on which can be completed same-day / instantly and what will need to be sent away.

Kinda scares me, but I’m still very confident I can pull this off, I look at the differences between my idea and what Olan Mills was and despite offering the same products I can see a clear difference in my execution and marketing methods.

Though, I’m still in for a rough ride, hopefully an enjoyable one!

A lot of work to be done and I’ve just woken up (2:32PM GMT) the girl at the New Years party refused to give me a kiss on the countdown, great, I’ve lost half a day and no good-luck-new-year-kiss.

Where to start? – Starting a company is easy – making a profitable, popular and an enjoyable one isn’t.

Phase 1 – Preparation

I’m breaking my preparation down into three segments – BRAND, PRODUCT and METHOD.

Over next three days I’ll make decisions that will shape and give my company structure, these are never set in cement, any good company will need to adapt to the latest styling, products and offers if it’s going to survive.

For the rest of today I’ll be looking at my brand, possibly one of the most important aspects of any company, I wish to come across as a professional, medium sized company with high quality inexpensive photo products.

Things to do:
Come up with a name for my company.
Create concept logos.
Colour and design styles/themes.

I’ll report back tomorrow morning with what I’ve decided on.
