I’m not dead nor bankkrupt!

October 12th, 2009

DAY 275 OF 1825 // MONEY - £2600.00

————————————————————————
Paid £300 against my debt

—————————————————————————————–

What a bad blogger  I’am – I’ve genuinely been busy and my PC was dead for a week, wouldn’t boot and needed a fresh install etc! excuse, excuse, blah blah.

A quick update + what’s going on!

Between 14th of September and 27th,  I was in Waltham Cross, sharing a pitch with Capital Windows the rent was split 50/50, business was awful for the first week and strong the second. Not the best trading weeks I’ve had but thanks to the lower rent I done OK with £300 left over to pay against my debt.

Condensed Excel sheet for 14th – 27th Sep

I’m currently in Waltham Cross now business has been slow, doubt I’ll book anything in October next year, if I do it won’t be in Waltham Cross. I’m not sure about other centres, but traditionally it has always been quiet this time of year ‘the lull before the storm’ as they say.

Talking of storms – The Santa’s  Grotto will be looked after by PhotoNOW. I got some great terms which will make Christmas very profitable for me. One of my three weeks rent absolutely free, making 50p on every photo they take and not having to supply the staff, just the equipment is very sweet, stress free and easy – just the way I like it!

Someone is interested in having their own PhotoNOW studio, we’ve agreed on a few things and the person will be doing a few test runs next year with me to see how it works.

Having a meeting on Thursday regarding the website, I’ll be pulling all stops out to get it live for Christmas.

Have made contact with a great photographer who has a studio in her home, who is interested in collaborating –  me selling studio packages from my stand and herself shooting them.

Thanks to all the people who check my blog, sorry it’s a bit boring with slow updates, I wish I could write in great detail about everything I do business related and how it’s effecting my business, but due to the way I write I’m certain that will be even more boring.

I’m still exceptionally confident in hitting my main target, my money counter is a little silly since I’m sinking all my spare money back into PhotoNOW.

All in all, the big picture is rosy , though when I first started my eyes were bigger then my belly and I expected to be a lot further down the line in my plan. I’ve learnt a lot and learning every day.

24TH AUG – 6TH SEP = Win

September 8th, 2009

DAY 243 OF 1825 // MONEY - £2900.00

————————————————————————
Paid £590 against my debt

—————————————————————————————–

Though losing a day on the second week due to bank holiday I turned over more then I did the previous week. The Friday was particularly weak, I think this is due to all the kids going back to school and the parents having a well deserved rest.

Excel Sheet for 24th Aug to 6th Sep

Also the Sunday was the strongest I’ve ever had. All in all a very, very good two weeks trading.

I really should have soloed the second week, but it does make the job more enjoyable with someone else there.

I’ve been asked by the WX centre management to look after their ‘grotto photography’ this Christmas, this will be a good test on my skills to profit backwards, not necessarily making huge profit per photo, but on the actual service and time involved.

Should be interesting, I’ll write up what gets agreed soon.

Phase 1.9.9 – Getting ready for the next booking, further tests

Things to do:

Finish website – It’s nearly ready to go live, just needs a little content and product population. This is so god-damn important, Imust get on with it!

24TH – 30TH AUG = Win

August 31st, 2009

DAY 243 OF 1825 // MONEY - £3490.00

————————————————————————

Note I’ve updated the money counter to show what I need to clear before I can start putting money into PhotoNOW – To explain quickly, I was foolish and the bank was aggressive, for anyone reading this do not get a credit card!

—————————————————————————————–

I soloed most of the week and had a friend help me on the last three days, he was working for free, I had great customers and good turnover.

This weeks excell sheet – Note : £80 to come and I’ve haven’t paid myself or my print bill, I should be looking at around £600-620 for myself, most of which will go towards clearing my debt.

I’ve added a new stand to my studio, it’s a spinning triangle display thingie ma bob.

It’s not fully finished yet, but it will tell more about PhotoNOW, what we offer and will sell Gift Vouchers which will come with a free print depending on what gift voucher they buy.

Once I leave it will be displayed in my fathers camera shop, listed with the dates, I’ll have to give a cut to my father, but this will build brand confidence and a little awareness.

I’ll get a  video together to show you it once I’ve dressed it up.

I’ve been asked non-stop for design work since my stand has been up, so I knocked up a small leaflet offering a design service aimed at Retail / RMU / stand displays. Done a few jobs already, looks promising.
